Beginning Principals Program (0-2 years)


The objective of this mandatory program is to induct and support newly appointed Catholic Principals during their first three years of CEWA principalship.

There are three phases of support during this program:

  • Phase One: Induction and immersion in the Principal’s school;
  • Phase Two: Development in the areas of faith formation, understanding of a Catholic school, administration, employment and community relations, system structures, managing change, and enhancing health and wellbeing.
  • Phase Three: Support for individuals in areas of defined need.




Learning Goals include:

  • Explore contemporary models of Gospel leadership including servant, shared and inclusive leadership
  • Share techniques to develop pastoral Catholic communities that are inclusive, safe and child centred
  • Investigate ways to ensure accessibility, affordability, sustainability and growth of schools
  • Understanding of what makes a school Catholic


Target Audience: Newly appointed Principals

Prerequisites: Appointed to first CEWA Principalship in 2020


Course dates: Term Four, in the year prior to appointment; annual workshop in first and second years of principalship

Cost: Charged back to school
